Experience
I blend web development, IT support, and hands-on problem solving — with a strong bias towards helping charities, small organisations, and individuals.
Highland Group RDA
Volunteer IT / web / digital support
- Rebuilt and maintained the charity website
- Migrated email and productivity to Microsoft 365 to cut costs and improve reliability
- Implemented device management and better account structures for staff and volunteers
- Designed tools to track rider progress and session data using Power Apps / Dataverse
Other charity and community work
- Helping small organisations move from outdated hosting to more transparent setups
- Cleaning up domains, DNS, and email so things stop “mysteriously breaking”
- Building sites with WordPress + Bricks and modern JS frameworks
- Moving towards faster, more maintainable stacks (Astro/Next.js, static export where possible)
- Setting up sensible backups, monitoring, and SSL/DNS best practices
- Integrating booking systems, forms, and basic automations
- Running Proxmox for virtualisation and containers
- Self-hosting tools like Nextcloud, Immich, Uptime Kuma, DNS resolvers, and controllers
- Experimenting with networking setups (pfSense, Omada, Starlink, WISPs, etc.)
- Documenting setups so future-Calum (and others) can understand what’s going on
